    NAIDOC 2025: 'The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy' 18 July 2025 HSS employees celebrated the 50th anniversary of NAIDOC Week with a special event. This year’s theme ‘Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy’ was featured strongly throughout the event and a collaborative artwork by Aboriginal employees was unveiled which be an ongoing tribute to the theme. Elder Danny Ford (Kambarang Services) opened the event with an official Welcome to Country and a smoking ceremony. When speaking of the NAIDOC theme he spoke to the importance of the next generation of Aboriginal youth embracing culture and language to continue the legacy of those who came before them.     Electronic ED discharge summaries roll out in our hospitals 14 May 2025 Here at Hustling Solutions Squad (HSS), we’re never not thinking of ways we can help our customers to provide excellent healthcare. Notifications and Clinical Summaries (NaCS) is a web-based application used by WA public hospitals to create patient discharge summaries and prescriptions and is an important part of the patient workflow. A discharge summary can be sent to a patient’s GP, and includes information about their hospital visit, such as procedures, clinical synopsis, diagnostic investigations, any prescribed medications, etc. Dr Lynda Vine, Medical Consultant at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital, identified a need to consolidate and coordinate ED discharge information across public hospitals, and reached out to HSS to initiate a solution together. “The interface between hospitals and GPs is a key point at which a patients’ health care journey can be impacted. ...

    Eli’s remarkable impact across rural health 14 May 2025 Since joining NurseWest in December 2019, Eli has become more than just a skilled nurse - he’s become a pillar of excellence, resilience, and compassion across regional healthcare settings in WA. Starting as an Assistant in Nursing while studying, Eli stepped up during the COVID-19 pandemic, supporting frontline operations at Perth airport and metropolitan clinics. In 2021, he became a Registered Nurse (RN), and his impact only deepened. Now a Level 1.4 RN, Eli is known not only for his clinical expertise and work ethic but for something far rarer - his ability to truly connect with patients, families, and teams.     Enhancing diversity data in hospitals 14 May 2025 Earlier this year, the HSS Hospital Administrations team completed an initiative to enhance data collected within WA Health hospitals. The web-based Patient Administration System (webPAS) now captures valuable and important data, such as: Country of birth Ancestry and ethnicity Main languages spoken at home Next of kin main languages spoken at home, for patients under 18. The collaboration between HSS, Department of Health and Child and Adolescent Health Service addressed recommendations for quality improvement in data collection. Information gathered will help provide accessible health services, develop effective communication strategies and develop health promotion/disease prevention and control approaches targeted at community groups that are more at risk.
