We are thrilled to announce that the HSS Annual Report 2023-24 won Bronze at the Institute of Public Administration Australia WA (IPAA WA) 40th annual W.S. Lonnie Awards on 28 March.

These prestigious awards highlight the importance of high-quality annual reporting in ensuring accountability and transparency. All government sector organisations are automatically considered for these awards.

The judges praised our report, stating, “This is a comprehensive report which is very people and relationship building-focussed. It features excellent coverage of corporate governance roles, and provides a clear vision as to where the organisation was heading. The report is easy to navigate and read, and demonstrates good use of links to relevant material, such as videos.”

Coby Pearson, Communications Manager at HSS, acknowledged the significant team effort involved in creating the Annual Report. “The whole organisation is involved in the Annual Report. Obviously, Finance plays a massive part, but the Communications team also reaches out to every business unit to source the wins and challenges from the past year and creates a cohesive narrative.”

Last year, HSS attended the Lonnie Awards and were fruitless but left with a desire to outperform at the next awards. The Communications team researched the winners and noticed a common theme of being future focused. “We took that into our planning for the 2023-24 Report and included a ‘looking forward’ theme throughout. I wonder if that clear forward focus is what got us over the line this time?” Coby mused.

“It’s an honour to learn, write, and share stories from such a diverse range of work that supports our customers in providing excellent health care,” she added.
