Graduate program
HSS participates in the WA Health Graduate Development Program each year – providing recent university graduates an opportunity to undertake three four-month placements in the following streams: ICT, Finance and General Corporate. The Program gives graduates a head-start in WA Health, whilst equipping them with skills and foundations of leadership that are essential to any career in the public sector.
HSS provide diverse and challenging projects that allow our graduates to better understand the positive impact we have in supporting our WA Health customers and communities.
“I highly recommend the Graduate Development Program at WA Health! The Program is very holistic and allows for a lot of room for growth whilst being greatly supported by your mentor, buddy, placement supervisor and of course our graduate coordinator.”
Jocelyn Tan, 2021 HSS Graduate.

Cadetship
Through the WA Health Aboriginal Cadetship Program, HSS provides the opportunity for a minimum of a 12-month placement for a student in a team that aligns with their area of study. The Program supports cadets to develop their skills and abilities and establish personal and professional support networks, while laying foundations for a career in the WA public health sector. This is a fantastic way to discover and learn about future employment opportunities.
Increasing Aboriginal participation is a key priority for us and helps us build a diverse workforce that’s representative of the community we support. When we do this, we can better support our customers and their patients.

“Throughout my cadetship with HSS, I’ve had so much support and really felt included and heard - which is especially important for an Indigenous person in the workplace.”
