Our Branding
HSS is committed to creating a culturally inclusive organisation where everyone can feel comfortable bringing their authentic selves to work. Our branding is a visual demonstration of this commitment.
Our identity features our Walking Together as One Aboriginal artwork created in 2020 by more than 130 HSS employees with Whadjuk/Ballardong Noongar, Eastern Arrente artist Jade Dolman. Watch the video below as we unveiled our Aboriginal Artwork at our 2020 NAIDOC Week celebrations:
Walking Together as One tells a story of our connection to the land and represents HSS’ journey towards reconciliation with our First Nations’ Peoples. It is also proudly displayed at four of our HSS locations. Watch the short animated video to learn more about each of the elements in our artwork branding:
We digitalised this artwork and worked closely with an Aboriginal graphic design consultancy to ensure we retained its original artistic expression, meaning and cultural integrity.
This artwork is also featured in our signage across four of our HSS locations – each with special Noongar names which were researched and selected by Whadjuk Noongar Traditional Owner, Professor Len Collard from Moodjar Consultancy.
The locations and the new site names are listed below:
- Level 11 kitchen, 81 St Georges Terrace – Kura (yesterday/past)
- Level 16, room 15, 140 William Street – Yeye (today/present)
- State Distribution Centre – Boorda (tomorrow/future)
- Jandakot Distribution Centre – Jin da Koort (Jandakot - a lovely place to walk)
The names Kura, YeYe and Boorda were chosen for their connection to our Aboriginal artwork over an appreciation of time, whilst Jin da Koort pays respect to the correct Noongar place in which our Jandakot warehouse is located.

Branding our locations with Aboriginal art and Noongar language is our way of recognising and celebrating our First Nations’ people and their connection with the land upon which we now share, live and work.
We believe that embracing and deepening our collective understanding of rich Aboriginal language, art and culture, will lead us to become a more culturally inclusive organisation. An organisation where our Aboriginal colleagues can feel safe, comfortable and valued for who they are.
