Promoting Aboriginal culture at HSS

Promoting Aboriginal culture at HSS

Aboriginal culture is one of the oldest cultures in the world and sharing seasonal kaartdijin (knowledge) is vital to ensuring the preservation of more than 60,000 years of wisdom.

Sharing kaartdijin is also an important step in building Aboriginal cultural awareness across HSS to help create a culturally safe environment that attracts Aboriginal people to our workforce. It also aligns with our Aboriginal Workforce Action Plan, aimed to create a workplace where Aboriginal people are seen, valued, included and respected.

The Aboriginal Seasonal Calendar highlights the natural elements that guide the transition between seasons. These elements are all around us in the plants, animals, water and weather changes.

Raising awareness of Aboriginal culture, language and history

Say hello to Jasmine Unno, an HSS Cadet in the 2022 WA Health Aboriginal Cadet Program, who shares kaartdijin on the Aboriginal seasonal calendar.
