Since joining NurseWest in December 2019, Eli has become more than just a skilled nurse - he’s become a pillar of excellence, resilience, and compassion across regional healthcare settings in WA.

Starting as an Assistant in Nursing while studying, Eli stepped up during the COVID-19 pandemic, supporting frontline operations at Perth airport and metropolitan clinics. In 2021, he became a Registered Nurse (RN), and his impact only deepened.

Now a Level 1.4 RN, Eli is known not only for his clinical expertise and work ethic but for something far rarer - his ability to truly connect with patients, families, and teams. Whether mentoring peers or supporting grieving families, Eli goes above and beyond every day.

“On one occasion, Eli stayed back two hours after his shift had ended to provide comfort and clarity to a grieving family. His empathy is truly exceptional.” said a fellow colleague.

His innovative streak shines just as brightly. At a regional hospital in the Wheatbelt, Eli implemented improvements like redesigning the ISOBAR handover sheet and developing a visual task-tracking system to ensure patient safety. At another rural hospital, his inventory and medication ordering system prevented critical shortages, demonstrating foresight and problem-solving under pressure.

Eli’s reputation for excellence now precedes him. He is now in high demand from the Mid-West, Wheatbelt, Goldfields and Great Southern. Just take a look at these glowing reviews!

“His proactive approach has been so valuable in maintaining hospital supply and supporting patient treatment.”

“Eli builds partnerships effortlessly and brings calm, clarity, and camaraderie to every team he joins.”

"Eli has a very warm and calm demeanour that has resonated through the whole hospital. He’s wonderful to work with.”

Making a difference, one patient at a time

Eli’s impact is especially felt in rural and remote care and his proudest achievement so far is completing a postgraduate degree in rural and remote nursing.

“It deepened my understanding of the challenges rural communities face and strengthened my ability to deliver high-quality, holistic care in resource-limited settings.” said Eli.

He speaks with passion about equitable access to healthcare and his role in meeting that need across WA.

“In rural nursing, we take on many roles - caregivers, advocates, and emotional supports. It’s deeply personal. It’s where I know I can make the biggest difference.”

His most moving moment? Supporting a terminally ill man and his family through the final stages of life in a rural hospital. From medical care to emotional presence, to performing last offices with compassion, Eli ensured dignity every step of the way.

“The family kept returning in the following weeks to share stories. It reminded me of the powerful role nurses play in rural communities.”

The NurseWest team at HSS continue to receive positive feedback about Eli and had this to say about their star Nurse:

“Eli is a valued and respected member of every team he works in, his empathy, innovation, and leadership embody everything NurseWest stands for and we are proud to have him as NurseWest employee.”
