To continue creating an inclusive workplace at HSS, our Multicultural Reference Group last week was proud to unveil a new multi-faith and non-denominational prayer room for employees at our 81 St Georges Terrace location.

The new room, which can be used for prayer or reflection, enables all employees to embrace their cultures in our workplace in a safe and inclusive environment.

The initiative has already been well received by employees.

A/Senior Service Improvement & Quality Assurance Analyst, Contact Centre, Azyan Arzelan said the prayer rooms demonstrate HSS’ commitment to diversity and inclusivity.

“I think the prayer room will boost engagement, morale and productivity for employees,” Azyan said.

“I’m glad that I now don’t have to search for an alternative place to pray.”

The new prayer room features frosted glass and a partition with curtains to enable two people to pray in privacy at once. Our Muslim employees will also find a Qibla pointer on the ceiling that faces West, and a shelf has also been installed for employees to keep their prayer mats in the room.

Executive Assistant to the Executive Director Workforce and Organisational Development, Ann Ibrahim said the prayer rooms are really significant - especially for Muslim employees.

“It makes me feel respected and valued as an employee and shows that HSS embraces harmony and inclusiveness within workplace,” Ann said.

Our other employee prayer rooms can be found at 140 William Street and our State Distribution Centre in Jandakot.
