A SHOC-king achievement for HSS
The State Health Operations Centre (SHOC) is fully operational thanks to the amazing effort from our SHOC Command Centre project team.
From February 2024, it was all hands on deck to plan and implement technical requirements the new facility would require to host a unique group of agencies and stakeholders.
The team included HSS specialist resources and vendor partners, who delivered a mammoth project on time and on budget.

Innovative technologies and systems, including WA Health firsts
Telephony: First site to implement CHIIP architecture, supporting multi-vendor multi-agency telephony across the new network, enhancing the reliability and connectivity of the critical WA Country Health Command Centre Command centre telephony solution.
Printing: First site to implement CHIIP architecture, supporting printing via the newly deployed centralised, whole-of-Health managed print solution from Konica Minolta.
Prioritised urgency: A first of its kind, light pole systems enable users to visually indicate when urgent assistance is required. The system not only enables users within SHOC to prioritise urgency, but also enables remote clinicians to.
Reliable network: Providing a reliable network, ensuring that if the site experiences a failure, the network can continue functioning seamlessly by automatically switching to a backup system.
Enhanced meeting and room bookings: A number of rooms are fitted with large format screens, integrated conferencing systems and room booking systems to provide the very best meeting experience. The system allows anyone to book a room and will make the room available again if someone hasn’t checked in within 10 minutes of the booking starting.
Optimised workspace: Each desk space is equipped with multiple large format curved monitors with supporting workstation infrastructure to enable the end user work experience to be optimised.
Better visibility: Several large format 2 x 2 video walls enable agencies to display multiple dashboards for heightened situation awareness.
Wi-Fi: Provides a seamless experience to gain guest network access to the internet, and a self-serve visitor check-in and badge creation via SINE, an integrated iPad and printer solution.
Charles D’Castro, Project Manager, Program Delivery lights up with passion as he talks about the team’s achievement. “We know that SHOC will make a huge difference to the health outcomes of WA, we are proud that our project contributed to that.”
Anyone who visits SHOC can be assured they are connecting to a secure platform with technology solutions that cater to any system they may be logging in from.
