Looking forward, looking back
As 2024 comes to a close, we would like to take a moment to reflect on what we have accomplished together this year and look ahead to the exciting opportunities that are before us.
This year was marked by challenges and remarkable achievements from everyone at HSS, and we would like to acknowledge and thank our people for the part you played in helping us achieve our purpose - to support our customers to provide excellent health care to Western Australians.
In 2024, HSS helped WA Health realise some impressive projects, including transferring the Peel Health Campus from private into the public health system and delivering the Patient Transport Coordination Hub, which was developed in partnership with Department of Health (DoH), as part of the WA Health Data Platform program. More recently, our ICT teams assisted with the establishment of the State Health Operations Centre (SHOC), a fit-for-purpose operation centre to centralise WA’s emergency and medical services – just to name a few key projects!
We also continued to support DoH and our hospitals with the rollout of the Digital Medical Record (DMR). With the first wave of sites now live, clinicians have immediate access to real-time patient records, significantly enhancing patient care and clinical efficiency. With the successful completion of the vital DMR upgrade and technical and support expertise provided by HSS, as well as our work on leading the rollout of Single Sign-On, our vital input is essential in paving the way for the Department of Health-led Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and ensuring WA Health remains at the forefront of digital innovation.
Throughout 2024 our operational performance has remained consistently excellent, demonstrating our commitment to supporting our customers.
We’ve also been proactive in looking at ways to improve our core business operations. We’ve made significant strides in reducing our environmental impact, and sustainability across our operations will remain a key focus for us in the new year.
Additionally, proactiveness in identifying, reporting, and rectifying hazards across the organisation, and especially in our Warehouse and Logistic function, has resulted in a Lost Time Injury (LTI) statistics of less than half of the previous year and we are currently achieving all LTI targets. Safety and wellbeing are deeply ingrained in our culture and processes and the results are encouraging.
We’ve also been able to share many moments that brought us together, such as hearing from Judge Linda Black at the International Women’s Day event, dancing together at Diwali and Pride, and enjoying numerous morning teas in support of a cause, or each other. These moments aren’t just a break from work but strengthen and unite us as an organisation.
WA Health continues to grow, and we continue to adapt in the ways we support our customers. Our ability to adapt to change, maintain our focus on what matters, and continually innovate positions us well for the future.
In 2025 we look forward to rolling out the much-anticipated Human Resource Management Information System (HRMIS) solution, as well as continuing to deliver our valued core business priorities, and major projects and programs. We will continue to focus on cyber security, making sure WA Health has a mature and protected cyber landscape, through the Critical Health ICT Infrastructure Program (CHIIP) and Essential8.
We look forward to another year of supporting our customers to provide excellent health care.
