Sign-on with speed
The rollout of Single Sign-On (SSO) at Armadale Kalamunda Group (AKG) has brought significant improvements in workflow efficiency for staff across various departments.
The new system, part of the Department of Health-led Electonic Medical Record (EMR) Program, which allows for faster and more secure access to clinical information, has already been deployed in key areas such as Aged Care and Rehabilitation, Intensive Care Unit, Maternity, Theatres, Dialysis, Mental Health and more.
Health Support Services (HSS) Change Manager Simon Passlow was on-site managing the rollout over the last few weeks.
"The rollout has progressed very well, largely attributed to how helpful, proactive, and collaborative the AKG leadership and team have been,” Simon said.
So far, SSO has been deployed across 416 clinical workstations, including 83 Workstations on Wheels (WOWs) and 333 desktop PCs, with 953 AKG staff members already registered to use the system.
"The introduction of Single Sign-On has always been to connect clinical staff to the information they need to provide exceptional patient care,” Simon explained.
“This new system has helped simplify this process for clinical staff."
While the Emergency Department is set to be included in the near future, with a date yet to be confirmed, the system is already making a marked difference in areas where it has been implemented.
Staff have praised the implementation process and the system's ease of use.
Armadale Health Service (AHS) Aged Care and Rehabilitation Acting Associate Nurse Unit Managers Emma Harris and Kathryn O’Neill were both present during the implementation of SSO on their ward.
"From their first email to meeting the team on the ward, HSS was kind, professional, and knowledgeable,” she said the team worked with staff on the ward to identify an appropriate time to implement SSO and any issues staff had were addressed quickly and positively.
Emma also said that SSO has been timesaving, allowing staff to access clinical information quickly and efficiently.
"I look forward to the rollout for all clinical and non-clinical staff," she said.
Kathryn echoed these sentiments, describing the installation process as seamless.
"We have quite a lot of computers on the ward, and they finished in a relatively short amount of time,” Kathryn said.
“I have found the system easy and user-friendly, and the registration process was quick,” she added.
“Not having to type in my very long password every time has been great!"
