During October each year, we recognise National Safe Work Month and remind ourselves of the importance of having a positive safety culture which emphasises good Work Health and Safety (WHS) practices.

The theme for this year is Health and safety is everybody's business.

This theme encapsulates a safe and healthy working environment as a fundamental principle and right across all industries and occupations, while reinforcing the business benefit that comes from committing to safer workplaces. The theme emphasises the positive outcomes of good WHS risk management, highlighting individual, organisational and wider community benefit.

At HSS, Safe Work Month is a good time to reflect and be proud of the improvements we have made in WHS and recognise that these achievements could not have been reached without everyone’s efforts.

These include, but are not limited to:

  • Record low Lost Time Injury rate for HSS overall (0.13%)
  • Record low Lost Time Injury rate for warehouse and logistics (0.66%)
  • +700 days Lost Time Injury free at Jandakot Distribution Centre
  • +600 days Lost Time Injury free at State Distribution Centre
  • Record low Lost Time Injury rate for corporate offices (0.07%)
  • +270 days Lost Time Injury free in the offices

It's important we continue to ensure WHS remains a focus at HSS, and we all work to continually improve.
