Digital Medical Record's Milestone Reached
100 million is a lot of anything.
The Department of Health Electronic Medical Record (EMR) program are well aware of just how big this number is as on 16 July the 100,000,000th record was scanned into the Digital Medical Record (DMR) - an amazing achievement.
Working alongside WA Health and other Health Support Partnerss, HSS has played an integral part since the initial DMR commencement at Fiona Stanley Hospital in 2014, with some BAU and project team members being involved since the start.
Now accessible to more than half of the hospital beds across WA Health, the DMR is allowing clinicians to access real-time, immediately accessible digital medical records for patients. This enables clinicians to work more efficiently and effectively, without the delays and risks associated with copying, storing and retrieving paper records.
In an address to the team, Program Executive Director Judith Stewart said;
“I want to recognise and acknowledge the critical and essential key role that the team at HSS play as part of the EMR ‘one team’ in supporting the program. Thank you to all involved, while this number is significant it is the hard work that goes into this program, by all involved, that we are really celebrating today.”
The latest sites to receive the existing version of the DMR solution were in the Wheatbelt. Northam, Beverley, and York Hospitals went live on 25 June, Goomalling and Wongan Hills Hospitals on 3 July and Narrogin Hospital, Williams Nursing Post and Wickepin Nursing Post on 23 July. The Wheatbelt region is on track to be complete by the end of September 2024.
