Welcome to the Noongar season, Djeran

Today marks the first day of Djeran (April to May) in the Noongar seasonal calendar. It’s a break in the hot weather as days start to become cooler and is recognised as the season of adulthood.

HSS Cadet Jasmine Unno is here to share some of her kaartdijin (knowledge) about this season and Noongar culture in the video.

Sharing this kaartdijin is an important part of building Aboriginal cultural awareness at HSS to help create a culturally safe and inclusive environment that attracts Aboriginal people to our workforce. It also aligns with our Diversity and Inclusion Strategy which aims to create a workplace where all employees are seen, valued and respected.
